NeoKismet, L.L.C., founded in 1999, is a privately owned company specializing in Nano-Energy Cleantech. It has created and patented completely new nano-clean-energy-conversion technologies for use as power sources in a vast array of applications. It is a result of the convergence of three areas of science (a) Nano-Technology (b) Surface Catalysis, and (c) Semi-Conductor Systems. The physics/chemistry principles it is based on are new and is analogous to what the transistor was to the vacuum tube in the 1950s. It is essentially the "transistor of the energy business".

The firm’s activities are (a) Research and Development; (b) licensing patented technologies, and (c) technical consulting services for applications of NeoKismet energy conversion technologies.

Performance comparisons show that if a lithium-ion battery of a cell phone is replaced with a nominal NeoKismet nano-clean-energy-conversion device of the same mass as the lithium-ion battery, then the talk-time and standby time of the NeoKismet cell phone can be approximately 10 times that of the lithium-ion phone. Thus a current 2-hour talk time phone can last up to 20 hours with the NeoKismet device. Moreover, the device recharge is "instantaneous", limited only by the time it takes to replace the energy cartridge.

NeoKismet clean-energy-conversion devices could be used to power automobiles by completely replacing the internal combustion engine with an electric motor powered by the NeoKismet converter device. Based on current experimental data, NeoKismet nano-clean-energy-conversion device with approximately 3.0 cu. ft. volume weighing approximately 8.9 kgs (~ 20 lbs) would generate 100 horse-powers continuously, enough to power an automobile. Moreover, the energy conversion is clean with no toxic emissions.

The technology is not a battery, nor an electrochemical couple, nor a fuel cell, nor a mechanical converter, nor a thermal device, nor thermo photovoltaic (TPV) device, nor thermionic converter, nor thermoelectric converter.

NeoKismet has also obtained patents for the reverse new process where chemical reactions are used to generate hot electrons which in turn are used to alter chemical reactions. Applications of this patent could be in the pharmaceuticals industry and the field of surface catalysis in general.
